Cognitive Bias of the Week: Liking Bias

I’m taking a left-turn this week from the “like a boss” mini-series that I began a couple of weeks ago in favor of starting another mini-series that I’m calling “Cognitive Bias of the Week”. (Clever titles are indeed my writing forte!) Feel free to Google “cognitive bias”…you’ll find a ton of definitions out there but I think the simplest definition is that they are a sort of “mental shortcut” that all of us use on a daily basis so that we don’t have to think too hard about any particular subject or situation. (Some definitions that you’ll find on the web stress the “irrationality” of cognitive biases but this is just plain mistaken…cognitive biases may or may not lead to irrational behavior but they are in no way a shorthand for irrational behavior.)
